Valspar - DIY Color Social

VALSPAR - DIY COLOR SOCIAL

Introduction:

In the world of creative collaboration, few projects are as exhilarating as bringing a vision to life. Recently, I had the privilege of directing a playful and vibrant social media campaign for Valspar Paint, alongside our partners at MONO and Rikshaw Films. This post offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the journey of creating this visually stunning and engaging project.

The Vision:

The project began with a clear vision from MONO: to create a series of 9 concepts with over 60 assets for Valspar's social media rollout. Tasked with handling production and post-production, Rikshaw Films was brought on board to assemble a team of talented professionals to make this ambitious project a reality.

Pitching and Preparation:

Eager to take on the role of director, I pitched the project, drawing on my experience as a VFX supervisor on large-scale campaigns. With a knack for both creative direction and hands-on post-production work, our team secured the job. Partnering closely with MONO, we set out to deliver innovative concepts that would fit within the project's timeframe and budget.

The Creative Process:

After MONO sold its enitial ideas to Valspar, it was time to adapt those ideas to reality and budget. The creative process was a collaborative endeavor. I explored various ideas, refining them into cohesive concepts that would resonate with Valspar's audience. Utilizing a combination of editing software such as Resolve and After Effects, as well as Houdini and Flame for specialized effects, we brought each concept to life with precision and flair.

Production Details:

Shot on an ARRI Alexa 35 with ARRI Ultra Primes, and capturing stunning visuals on Fuji GFX Medium Format, every detail was carefully considered to ensure the highest quality output. Notable elements included the creation of "chipfetti" using Houdini and intricate rotoscoping achieved with Flame.

Gratitude and Collaboration:

A project of this scale wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and talent of every team member involved. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed their expertise, passion, and creativity to make this endeavor a success. Together, we transformed ideas into captivating visuals that will leave a lasting impression.

Conclusion:

As the curtains close on this chapter of our creative journey, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunity to bring Valspar Paint's vision to life. Through collaboration, innovation, and unwavering dedication, we've crafted a series of social assets that capture the essence of the brand while engaging audiences in a meaningful way. Here's to many more adventures in the world of creativity!
